How to view data from a data Stream or Point
To help you better understand and monitor your building or portfolio, DCH allows you to view data coming into DCH graphically. The data can either be from a Point in the building model, or a data Stream that is not linked to your building. This can be easily accessed by first navigating to the data Stream or Point. You can also adjust to visible range of the data to suit your needs.
1. Navigate to your data Stream or Point
There are multiple ways you can navigate to your data in DCH:
Use the Search function to go to Points, or
Navigate to your data Point using the building model, or
Find your data Stream or Point using Data Explorer
The difference between a data Stream and a Point
Knowing whether the data you are looking for is a Point or a Stream can help you decide how to search for it.
Data flowing into the DCH is referred to as a data Stream. This can be data from a sensor or device in your building, or external data such as weather information.
A Point is a data Stream that has been connected to the building model in DCH. Note that the Stream must be manually linked up to the Point. If you find a Point that has no data, it could mean that onboarding of your building or sensor has not been completed yet by your building administrator.
Using the Search function
We recommend using the Search function to navigate to data that is already linked to your building model. This is most likely the case if the onboarding process has been completed.
Select ‘Search’ from the navigation bar
Enter the Site name that the data belongs to
You can choose to specify the building and area of the building, and/or equipment that your data is coming from. To do so, make sure you select the check box and enter the name of the building, or area, that your data is linked to
You can specify the Point type
Select ‘Search DCH’
In the search results, select the Point you are interested in
Navigate to data using your building model
Follow these steps to navigate to data while exploring your building model:
Select the Point ID in the building viewer
Select the Data Stream ID link
Learn more about using the building viewer in How to navigate site and building details.
Navigate to data using Data Explorer
This method works well if you are interested in a data Stream that is not connected to a Point in a building model. This method may be useful for accessing data if your building is still being on-boarded, for newly connected sensors, or for external data such as weather and electricity market data.
To export the data from a data Stream:
Select Data Explorer from the navigation bar to view all the data streams available
Select the data stream ID you are interested in
💡 Tip: You can also search for the Data Stream using the Stream ID, the property being observed in the data (e.g. wind direction), or the units the data is being measured in.
2. Adjust the visible range of data
You can adjust the scales on the horizontal and vertical axis of the graph shown to suit your needs. There are multiple ways you can adjust the data range presented.
Select and drag directly on the chart
On the chart, select the starting point you’re interested in
Holding the mouse button down, drag the mouse to the end of the range of interest
Release the mouse button
To adjust the date range of data shown

Select the date you are interested in
Selected the time of day (hours and minutes selected separately)
Select the end date
Choose your end date of choice by repeating steps 2 and 3
Shift the data time window
You can ‘scroll’ through the through the data by engaging in the buttons that appear to the left of the start time, and right of the end time.
